Webclass 1 – Kick-off & Instructor Readiness

Objectives of the session

  • Establish the learning framework and expectations

  • Ensure compliance with ASCM IDP learner credit requirements

  • Initiate reflective practice and instructional design work

  • Prepare participants for upcoming teaching demonstrations

1. Welcome & Introduction to Akorium (10 min)

Purpose: Set context and credibility

  • Who we are: Akorium’s positioning in Supply Chain & Instructor Development

  • Role as ASCM Master Instructor & IDP contributor

  • How this program supports professional instructors, not just certification

  • Overview of the program flow and expected outcomes

2. ASCM IDP – Learner Credit & Participation Requirements (10 min)

Purpose: Clarify rules early, avoid ambiguity

  • Conditions to earn ASCM IDP learner credit

  • Attendance, active participation, and assignments

  • Importance of:

    • Camera on (when possible)

    • Active engagement (chat, polls, activities)

    • Completion of required deliverables

  • Link between practice teaching, reflection, and IDP validation

Association for Supply Chain Management standards apply throughout the program.

3. Media Recording & Consent (5 min)

Purpose: Transparency and trust

  • Sessions may be recorded for:

4. Learning Preferences – VARK Questionnaire (15 min)

Purpose: Anchor the program in adult learning science

  • Downloadable academic profile (PDF) for personal use

  • How to use your VARK profile to:

    • Adapt training methods

    • Balance modalities in your lessons

    • Avoid over-teaching in your own preference style

5. Teaching Practice – Expectations & Preparation (15 min)

Purpose: Remove anxiety, structure success

    • One interaction

10-minute Training Lesson – Draft

  • Objective: design a complete micro-lesson

  • Includes:

    • Introduction

    • Learning objective

    • Activity or interaction

    • Closing / takeaway

Guidelines, templates, and examples are provided.

6. Experience & Expectations – Reflection Form (10 min)

Purpose: Personalization and cohort alignment

Participants complete a short form to share:

  • Training and facilitation experience

  • Comfort level with:

    • Virtual delivery

    • Group facilitation

    • Assessment

  • Personal objectives for the program

  • Specific expectations toward Akorium and the cohort
